Microsoft Internet Explorer

To help you successfully download a new version of Internet Explorer, below is some helpful information to keep in mind.

  • Be sure to check your PC system requirements before downloading any version of Internet Explorer.

  • If you have a dial-up connection, check the file size and download time, before executing the download.

  • If upgrading from IE 4.01, be sure to take advantage of the Using Internet Explorer section on the Microsoft site to familiarize yourself with new features.

Instructions for installation:

  • Click on appropriate download link.

  • Select language from the drop-down list and click GO.

  • Click the Internet Explorer… link to download (Right side of screen)

  • Click the "Open" button in the pop-up window.

  • Step through the Software install.

If you have a dial up connection, you can expect the following download times:

  • 28.8 Kb connection = ~2 hours

  • 56 KB connection = ~ 1 hour.

Q. How do I find out which version of Internet Explorer I have?

A. From the Internet Explorer toolbar, click Help, and then click About Internet Explorer. The version number is listed in the window that appears.



Q. What are the system requirements for Internet Explorer 6.0?

A. Computer/Processor: Computer with a 486/66-MHz processor or higher Pentium Processor recommended.  Operating System: Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows Millennium Edition (Windows Me), Windows NT® 4.0 with the high encryption version of Service Pack 6a (SP 6a) and higher, Windows 2000, or Windows XP


Q. Which Operating System Do I Have?

A. If you have an IBM-compatible computer (a PC as opposed to an Apple Macintosh), your operating system is most likely Microsoft Windows.  If your computer has an icon called My Computer on the desktop, you can double click this icon, then select Help from the command line at the top of the screen. Under Help you will see About Windows 95, 98, Millennium, 2000 or NT. This will confirm your Windows version.
